A day after President Park Geun-hye turned down his resignation and retained him, Prime Minister Chung Hong-won had a tearful encounter with the families of the Sewol-ho ferry passengers who are still missing.
The prime minister visited Jindo Island on this Friday, near the site of the April ferry sinking, and promised the families that he'll pour his energy into reforming the country and finding the remaining 11 victims.
He also vowed to find a way for the ferry victims to be remembered forever, and set up a hotline between his office and the families.
Chung had offered to resign to take responsibility for the government's lax
response to the ferry accident, but has since visited Jindo to show his commitment to the recovery process.
