Parliamentary defense committee holds hearing over shooting rampageUpdated: 2014-06-25 14:00:49 (KST)
The parliamentary defense committee held a Q-and-A session this Wednesday on the shooting spree at a front line army unit that left five soldiers dead and seven others wounded over the weekend.
Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin , who has been tapped to become President Park Geun-hye's top security advisor, appeared and answered questions from lawmakers about what may have caused the rampage, carried out by a 22-year-old army sergeant.
Lawmakers accused the military of poor personnel management and asked about countermeasures to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
Also up for discussion was the timing of a confirmation hearing for Defense Minister-designate Han Min-koo .
