A civic group that fights on behalf of the victims of Japan's wartime system of sex slavery has delivered a petition to the United Nations to call for the prompt settlement of the highly emotive issue.
The petition, organized by the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Sexual Slavery by Japan, was signed by one.five million people from around the world.
The civic group is expected to call for a resolution to the issue at the 26th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday.
The group also plans to give a presentation highlighting the brutality of Japan's military during and before World War Two.
Around 200 thousand women, mostly Koreans, were forced into sexual slavery during Japan's colonial rule of Korea in the early 20th century.
