The nation's rival political parties, as you might imagine, had very different reactions to Friday's Cabinet reshuffle.
The ruling Saenuri Party welcomed the news, saying the nominations reflect the president's commitment toward reforming the government and economy.
As for the timing of the shake-up, which came before the president's nominee for prime minister had been confirmed by the parliament, the ruling party said it hopes the opposition understands that no further time could be wasted.
The opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy, however, was not quite so understanding.
They said the reshuffle violated the nation's Constitution, which states the prime minister must recommend Cabinet ministers to the president.
