At least a dozen North Korean escapees have been arrested in Thailand.
Japanese media reports that 13 North Koreans, who are thought to have been smuggled into Thailand, were caught in the northern Chiang Rai region.
Reports say the group, which includes two children, likely crossed into Thailand after passing through China and Laos, with hopes of defecting.
Thai media also reported that the would-be defectors are from the northeastern part of North Korea and traveled by boat from southern China. before being caught in Thailand.
