Seoul slams Pyongyang for denial of shelling in disputed watersUpdated: 2014-05-23 22:49:08 (KST)
Speaking of the maritime firing after North Korea denied firing two artillery shells near a South Korean warship in the West Sea Seoul denounced Pyongyang.
The communist state claims that the South Korean warship crossed its maritime border to launch an attack and that Seoul was trying to fabricate the incident.
South Korea's defense ministry slammed the North's claims as being far-fetched and a blatant lie to shun responsibility.
Seoul's defense ministry said the series of threats from Pyongyang were aimed at disrupting the South Korean Navy's normal guard operations and putting the Northern Limit Line into dispute, in an attempt to nullify the maritime border.
