President Park Geun-hye will address the nation on this Monday to apologize for the government's failure to prevent the Sewol-ho ferry disaster.
Presidential office spokesperson Min Kyung-wook says the president will make the televised statement at 9 a.m., Korea time. just under three hours from now.
She will also announce measures to bolster national safety and root out irregularities in public service.
On Sunday, President Park attended a mass for the victims and families of the ferry accident at Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul.
After her address, President Park will embark on a two-day visit to the UAE for a ceremony marking an installation of the first Korean-made nuclear reactor in the country.
