After more than a hundred international matches in a professional career that dates back to 2000, Korea's most decorated footballer is hanging up his cleats.
Park Ji-sung announced his retirement on Wednesday, citing chronic knee problems.
The 33-year-old played this last season with PSV Eindhoven, on loan from the Queens Park Rangers.
Park will be remembered as being a trailblazer on the pitch.
He was the first Korean to play in the English Premier League, with Manchester United and represented Korea in three World Cups, scoring goals in each tournament.
Park is set to tie the knot with TV announcer Kim Min-ji this July.
The two plan to live in Europe.
