President Park vows to boost national safety on Parents' DayUpdated: 2014-05-08 13:57:23 KST
Today, May 8th, is Parents' Day here in Korea and while it's a day many Koreans spend time with their parents and show their love and appreciation for all that their folks have done this year, hundreds of parents are aching with sadness after losing their children in last month's Sewol-ho ferry disaster.
Marking this day, President Park Geun-hye on her Facebook page, vowed to make Korea a safe place to live, so the parents of the victims will not be hurt any more.
A majority of victims from the sunken ferry were high school students from the city of Ansan traveling on a field trip to Jeju.
President Park also thanked all parents in the nation for their sacrifices and devotion in raising their children and doing their best to foster talented individuals.
