UN Commission to bring North Korea's human rights abuses matter to the ICCUpdated: 2014-04-11 10:01:25 KST
A senior UN official says the recent report on North Korea's human rights abuses will denounce its leader Kim Jong-un and bring him before the International Criminal Court.
Speaking at the Japan National Press Club in Tokyo Thursday, UN representative on North Korean human rights Marzuki Darusman said the regime's grave human rights violations were being brought to the international law track.
The UN commission report released in February said that crimes against humanity have taken place and continue to take place in North Korea.
Darusman says commission members will be attending a UN Security Council meeting next week, upon the invitation of the U.S., France and Luxembourg where they will urge the body to seek legal action against the North Korean leader.
