WFP gives North Korea US$3.2 mil. worth of emergency food aidUpdated: 2014-02-28 21:56:26 KST
The United Nations' World Food Program reportedly provided North Korea with some 3 million U.S. dollars worth of emergency food aid earlier this month.
Washington-based Radio Free Asia reports that the UN food agency supplied emergency assistance for children and pregnant women in the North due to a drop in donations from the international community.
The UN body is currently trying to collect 200 million dollars earmarked for the two groups in the North by 2015, but has only collected around 25 million dollars so far.
It estimates that 84 percent of all North Korean households have borderline or poor food consumption.
