Former NBA star Dennis Rodman will be investigated over his recent visit to North Korea by the United Nations.
A source at the UN told Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency Monday that the international body will investigate whether Rodman, during his visit to North Korea in January, violated UN resolutions against Pyongyang.
Specifically, the UN Security Council's North Korea Sanctions Committee will look into whether the presents Rodman gave North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is in violation of UN sanctions on the North.
Last month, the U.S. Treasury Department also started looking into whether the former basketball star violated U.S. sanctions banning the import of luxury goods into North Korea.
Rodman's controversial visit to the North attracted greater attention when he gave Kim and his wife presents such as a fur coat, a handbag and premium alcoholic spirits.
