President Park Geun-hye has reiterated her call for the creation of a system that will strengthen social welfare services while boosting employment and the economy.
At a meeting with the ministers of health, labor and gender equality on Tuesday, President Park outlined the program, which she proposed earlier this year.
It involves increasing subsidies for parents on childcare leave, expanding the number of public daycare centers and offering more flexible hours to working parents.
In addition, the president underscored the need for deregulation in the country's service sector.
She also vowed stronger government support for the health service sector, which she said has the potential to provide young people with good jobs.
