S. Korea greenlights N. Korea aid packages from three charity groupsUpdated: 2014-01-15 PM 10:47:49 (KST)
Despite inter-Korean tensions South Korea has given the green light to three private charity groups to send humanitarian aid to North Korea this year.
The unification ministry said Wednesday that it has approved a 400,dollar aid package for young children in the North, consisting of bread, milk powder and clothes.
The move is in line with President Park Geun-hye's New Year's speech, in which she pled to bolster humanitarian assistance to North Korea.
The latest approval brings the total amount of aid to the North to over 6.8 million U.S. dollars since President Park Geun-hye took office.
