North Korea could launch provocation in March: reportUpdated: 2013-12-31 PM 7:52:10 (KST)
There are signs North Korea could once again threaten South Korea right after an annual military training exercise between South Korea and the U.S. that is scheduled for March.
The Seoul-based Institute for National Security Strategy says there is a high possibility Pyongyang could attempt a fourth nuclear test or launch another ballistic missile following the annual Key Resolve and Foal Eagle drills.
The institute adds the move could be to strengthen internal unity,.. which could have been affected by the execution of Jang Song-thaek , the once-powerful uncle of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
In response, the South Korean military said it was ready to retaliate if provoked.
Pyongyang recently dispatched 60 attack helicopters and 2-hundred pieces of heavy artillery to islands near the western maritime border.
