New satellite imagery suggests North Korea may be producing fuel for plutonium reactor: 38 NorthUpdated: 2013-12-24 PM 10:41:41 (KST)
North Korea appears to be making progress in its plans to get the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center back online again.
New satellite imagery released on the U.S.-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies' 38 North website suggests the regime may be running a new fuel fabrication plant in Yongbyon.
It's believed they are producing fuel there for a recently restarted 5-megawatt plutonium production reactor and an experimental light water reactor that is still under construction.
The 38 North report goes on to say that the presence of these facilities indicates a more wide-ranging, extensive effort by North Korea to modernize and restart the Yongbyon complex than previously understood.
