Hundreds of thousands without power in U.S., Canada after severe ice stormUpdated: 2013-12-24 PM 12:13:00 (KST)
A severe winter storm that's left hundreds of thousands in the United States and Canada without power could leave some in the dark for Christmas.
Around 400-thousand people in eastern Canada and 280-thousand in the U.S. state of Michigan had no power as of Monday.
Utility firms say some may not have electricity until Wednesday or even Thursday.
In the U.S., heavy snowfall, storms and even tornados have caused flight delays and unsafe road conditions, wreaking havoc on Americans' Christmas travel plans.
At least eleven people died as the storm system moved over the area, with five people killed in accidents on ice-covered roads in Canada.
