Senior foreign and defense ministry officials of South Korea and China have exchanged views on the state of affairs surrounding the Korean peninsula after North Korea's dramatic execution of its leader's uncle.
During their first security dialogue in Beijing Monday the two sides agreed to boost communication and cooperation, reaffirming that peace on the Korean peninsula was their shared goal.
The two nations also agreed to work towards denuclearizing North Korea.
Seoul pointed out factors that intensify tensions in Northeast Asia, including China's new air defense zone, and its territorial disputes with Japan.
