North Korea may be sending military experts to Syria's Assad regime - officialUpdated: 2013-12-13 (KST)
The interim prime minister of the Syrian National Coalition the leading opposition group in Syria says he has received intelligence that North Korea may be supplying military experts to the government of Bashar al-Assad.
In an interview with Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency on Thursday, Ahmad Tomeh said there was lots of speculation but he had not actually seen for himself that Pyongyang was sending military experts to help the Syrian government.
Tomeh said he presumed Russian or North Korean airmen might be directly involved as the precision of the Syrian government's bombing raids on rebel positions has improved significantly over the past few months.
The assumption comes as Russia and North Korea use the same weapons and bombers.
