Snowstorm closes federal offices and schools in Mid-Atlantic U.S.Updated: 2013-12-11 (KST)
A snowstorm in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States that has killed at least 11, shut schools and federal offices in the country's capital and elsewhere along the Eastern seaboard on Tuesday.
Up to 25 centimeters of snow piled up in some areas, after a wave of heavy snowfall swept through the nation over the weekend and Monday.
Federal government offices were shut and school districts in Washington and Maryland also called off classes due to dangerous road conditions.
More than 1,600 flights were also canceled in the region.
In Oklahoma, 11 deaths from traffic and other weather-related accidents were reported.
