Korea will hold a series of naval drills with the United States and Britain in waters off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula starting Sunday.
Seoul's Defense Ministry spokesperson Kim Min-seok says three naval vessels will be deployed during the two-day exercise: Korea's Aegis destroyer Yulgok Yi I , America's Aegis cruise ship Shilo and Britain's Daring-class stealth destroyer.
The spokesman says the drill isn't being held in response to the recent tension over China's newly drawn air defense zone but is aimed at bolstering teamwork in security cooperation and humanitarian relief operations.
