  Korea, UK to boost cooperation in cultural and creative industries
President Park Geun-hye attended a gala for the annual London Korean Film Festival, ahead of the festival's opening on Thursday.
Park received a warm welcome from British spectators and shared her favorite British film.

Park said that both Korea and Britain are exceptional in terms of creativity, and that they share a love of culture and the arts.
She said that cooperation in the cultural and creative industries will create a synergy effect for Korea and the UK.


"If we cooperate in these fields, we will be able to create great cultural products that give joy and happiness not just to people in our two countries, but people all over the world."

At this year's London Korean Film Festival, the eighth of its kind, 45 Korean movies will be screened at venues across the city.

Ahead of the gala, the president also met with Korean and British officials in the arts and culture sectors and shared her views on the importance of bilateral cultural exchanges.
Korea and the UK also signed a memorandum of understanding to boost cooperation in the cultural and creative industries.

"I think we can gain a great deal from coming together, from learning from each other and also through cultural exchanges to really get to know each other better."

The two parties also agreed to hold their first UK-Korea Creative Industries Forum in London in the second half of next year.
