Unemployment rate in eurozone hits record high
The jobless rate in the 17-nation eurozone hit a record high in September as the bloc's burgeoning recovery failed to generate many new jobs.
The European Union's statistics agency, Eurostat says unemployment rose by 60-thousand from the previous month to 19.5 million, meaning 12.2 percent of working age people were jobless in September.
The jobless rate for under-25s edged up 0.1 percent from August to 24.1 percent.
Youth unemployment was lowest in Germany and Austria.
Greece and Spain were on the opposite end of the scale with youth jobless rates of over 55 percent.
