Korean PM says government will get to bottom of election scandal
Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-Won gave his first special statement to the nation earlier Monday, vowing to get to the root of the scandal surrounding last year's presidential election.
Prime Minister Chung made clear that the president did not receive any help from the National Intelligence Service during the election and he stressed the goverment will find the truth and take the necessary action.
Lawmakers have been wrangling over suspicions the spy agency launched an online smear campaign ahead of last year's election to sway public opinion in favor of then-presidential candidate Park.
The prime minister also asked for a concerted effort by the government and lawmakers for the swift passage of legislation aimed at stimulating the economy and improving the lives of the people.
