Typhoon Danas slams southern Korea with heavy rain, strong winds
Typhoon Danas, packing winds of up to 45 meters per second, slammed southern Korea, including Jeju Island, with heavy downpours and strong gusts of wind on this Tuesday.
The typhoon is currently passing through Korea's southernmost Jeju Island and moving in a northeasterly direction at a speed of at least 30 kilometers per hour.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued typhoon advisories and warnings in the southern provinces this morning and is advising citizens to be on the alert throughout the night.
Busan Port has cancelled all ship entrances and departures, while some schools on Jeju Island have shortened the school day or have closed temporarily.
The typhoon is expected to leave Korea by Wednesday morning, as it passes the Dokdo Islets and heads toward Japan.
