N. Korea blames U.S. for continuing tensions on Korean peninsula
North Korea says Washington's "hostile policy" toward the regime is the reason behind the continuing tensions on the Korean peninsula.
North Korea's vice foreign minister Pak Kil-yon told the UN General Assembly Tuesday that the U.S. was abusing the power of the UN Security Council, adding that imposing sanctions on Pyongyang after the regime's long-range rocket launch was unfair.
The North Korean minister admitted there needed to be internationally binding regulations on reducing nuclear weapons but stressed that Washington needed to acknowledge the North Korean regime's sovereignty for that to happen.
