Parliament holds emergency hearing on pension plan, resignation of prosecutor general
At the National Assembly, a select group of lawmakers is questioning members of President Park's Cabinet about a scaled-back pension plan that has caused quite a stir here in Korea since its announcement last week.
The emergency hearing is also focused on what prompted the justice minister to order an unprecedented investigation into the nation's top prosecutor, which led Prosecutor General Chae Dong-wook to resign.
Opposition party lawmakers object to the government's actions on both issues, while ruling party lawmakers defend the government's decisions.
