President Park vows to expand middle class and boost employment
President Park Geun-hye says that restoring the country's shrinking middle class is an important task, given the widespread socioeconomic polarization in the nation.
During a meeting with economic experts and officials Thursday morning, President Park said that "increasing the middle class to 70 percent of the nation's population and the employment rate to 70 percent" is her government's top priority.
She said the two goals go together, as employment will be the foundation for increasing the middle class.
The president added that both goals must be reached in order to revitalize the economy and increase the public's happiness.
