No. 6 reactor at Hanbit nuclear power station goes down
Local authorities issued a level-two power shortage alert Wednesday afternoon, following the abrupt suspension of yet another nuclear reactor.
The breakdown of the number six reactor at the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant in South Jeolla Province caused the nation's power reserves to tumble from 4.5 million kilowatts to below 3.5 million.
The level two warning, which put the country at "attention" for power outages, was later brought back up to level one, or "prepare."
Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power says it will take at least a week to determine the cause of the technical glitch which led to the breakdown.
