Iran running 10,000 of 18,000 centrifuges: Iranian official
Iran reportedly has 18-thousand uranium enrichment centrifuges and the country is currently running 10-thousand of them.
This is according one of the country's news agencies, which quoted the outgoing head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
The U.S. and its Western allies are pressing Tehran to curb its uranium enrichment program, suspecting they are aimed at developing nuclear weapons.
But Tehran maintains its nuclear activity is purely for peaceful purposes.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, a former nuclear negotiator, who oversaw a previous deal to suspend Iran's uranium enrichment, has welcomed new talks with world powers over the program but has insisted on Iran's right to enrich uranium.
