Heat wave death toll rises to at least 85 in Japan
The death toll from a sweltering heat wave that's had Japan in its grip for nearly two weeks is rising.
State broadcaster NHK said Wednesday at least 85 people have died of heatstroke from May to July, the majority of whom were over the age of 60.
Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency says more than 10-thousand people were taken to hospitals for heat exhaustion from July 8th to 14th,.. the highest number in five years.
Temperatures in Japan have climbed above 35 degrees Celsius, and Japan's Meteorological Agency expects the heat wave to continue through the end of the month.
