 S. Korean diplomats to discuss follow-up measures to defector repatriation
Follow-up measures to the recent repatriation of nine North Korean defectors will certainly top the agenda when South Korean diplomats stationed overseas gather for their regular meeting to discuss defector issues.
Representatives from overseas diplomatic missions are scheduled to meet in mid-June, to exchange information on defector routes in East Asia, and to seek ways to better protect and manage North Korean defectors.
Nine North Koreans between the ages of 15 to 23, who were caught earlier last month in Laos, were repatriated to their country via China last week.
North Korean agents are said to have boarded the Pyongyang-bound plane from China, which to many is a clear indication North Korea was actively involved in the swift repatriation.
