Transition Team Unveils Goals & Tasks of Incoming Part Geun-hye Administration
The five goals of President-elect Park's incoming government are to establish:
a creative economy based on job creation, tailored employment and welfare services, a creative education, a safe and integrated society and the foundation for a reunified Korea.
""The Park administration aims to create a society in which national development brings happiness, and vice versa, opens a new era on the Korean Peninsula, and eventually makes Korea a exemplary nation that contributes to the happiness of the entire world."
The new government has decided to implement the so-called "people's happiness pension" which is a combination of national pension and basic pension starting in July next year.
Under this pension program, senior citizens above the age of 65 will be able to receive up to 200-thousand won, or some 184 dollars, a month based on their income level.
This is double the figure that people in the low- and mid-income bracket are currently receiving.
The Park administration will also abolish the central investigation unit at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office by the end of the year.
The unit is charge of probing corruption scandals involving government officials and political heavyweights but has been criticized for abusing its investigative power by conspiring with high-ranking officials.
"The tasks will be given to each ministry after the new administration takes office, and officials will use them to outline their policy goals for the next five years.
The presidential transition team will wrap up its 48 days of activities at a disbanding ceremony on Friday.
