Japan to Boost Publicity Over Territorial Claims
Japan has created a new government office to handle its publicity efforts over disputed territories with its neighboring countries including Korea, China and Russia.
Japanese State Minister for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs Ichita Yamamoto said the new team comprised of 15 staff is expected to draft publicity strategy on Japan's position regarding territories including the Korea-controlled Dokdo islets in the East Sea and the disputed Senkaku or Diaoyu island chain in the East China Sea.
Korea's foreign ministry, in response, said Dokdo is not a subject to a territorial spat, as the islets are historically, geographically and by international law, part of the Korean territory.
