President-elect Park, Ruling & Opposition Parties Criticize Special Pardons
In response to President Lee's special pardons incoming leader Park Geun-hye's transition team expressed disappointment and regret, saying the outgoing president would have to bear the brunt of public criticism.
During a meeting with her subcommitee on law and order Tuesday President-elect Park stressed that the law should be applied fairly to everyone, and not favor just the wealthy.
Meanwhile, both the ruling and opposition parties voiced their regrets over Lee's decision. The ruling Saenuri Party emphasized that the pardons go against the will of the people while the main opposition Democratic United Party comdemned the move,saying it disrupts the rule of law.
