More substandard parts without the proper certifications have been found at Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant in North Jeolla Province, threatening to further delay the plant's opening after a similar problem was discovered in November.
The parts in question are used in the 5th and 6th nuclear reactors and do not pose a threat to the safety of the power plant according to the results of an investigation by a public-private group on Monday.
The parts are non-core items that do not have the proper nuclear industry certifications.
The 5th reactor was undergoing 'uncertified part' changes from December 13th to the 18th and the 6th reactor had finished its part changes and was due to undergo performance tests on the 25th.
However, since extra parts with false warranties were found, further investigations will be conducted, and performance tests will likely be postponed.
