Vietnamese Population on Rise in Korea

Vietnamese Population on Rise in Korea

The number of Vietnamese people living in Korea is on the rise and more and more of them are deciding to start a family here.
Government data shows there are around 120-thousand Vietnamese nationals in the country.
Sixty-thousand men work here as laborers and 50-thousand are Vietnamese women, often brought into Korea by international marriage brokers, to marry with Korean men.
Recent data shows 22-thousand babies were born to multi-cultural families last year in Korea and over a third were from Vietnamese women.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor also says one out of every four foreign laborers in Korea are Vietnamese and they are increasing at a fast pace.
This year marks the 20th year of diplomatic ties between Korea and Vietnam.
