The International Energy Agency says expanding the number of nuclear reactors is the way to go for Korea.
In a report released on Friday, the agency said adding more reactors is a practical and efficient policy for a country that has no alternatives for energy resources.
A third of Korea's power is generated by 23 nuclear reactors across the country and the government plans to add 11 more by 2024.
However, the country's nuclear sector has been involved in a series of incidents that led to the shutdown of two reactors.
The energy agency added Korea should bring more transparency to its nuclear power sector to increase trust in the safety of its plants.
