Moon Outlines Welfare Policies, Ahn Takes Aim at the Prosecution

The main opposition Democratic United Party's presidential nominee Moon Jae-in has unveiled a new set of welfare policies.
Moon vowed to scrap tax cuts for the country's top income earners and conglomerates, double the payouts from the pension system and ensure that health care costs do NOT exceed 1 million won, or some 900 U.S. dollars per person per year.
Independent candidate Ahn Cheol-soo has announced his plan to reform the country's legal system.
In a press conference Wednesday, Ahn said he would carry out reforms that will strengthen control over government institutions while protecting the underprivileged.
His plan includes getting rid of the central investigation department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
