The new missile agreement is prompting different reactions from different countries.
China's Xinhua News Agency criticized the move, saying the extension of the missile range goes against the Missile Technology Control Regime.
The MTCR is a voluntary international agreement, which aims to prevent the proliferation of technology for the development of missiles exceeding 300 kilometers in range and carrying a payload of more than 500 kilograms.
JAPANESE media outlets said North Korea is likely to condemn the new agreement since the longer range covers all of the North's territory.
They noted the extended range is not targeted toward Japan as the missiles would be unable to reach Tokyo.
