Korea marks its National Foundation Day today.
This national holiday, known as "Gaecheonjeol" in Korean, celebrates the mythical founding of the Korean nation in the year 2,3-hundred-33 BC by the legendary god-king Dangun .
To mark the occasion, various commemorative events were held throughout the nation including a ceremony at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Seoul, with some 3-thousand people in attendance.
There, Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik vowed to take stern measures against any foreign attempts to take territories that the Korean people have defended for the past 5-thousand years.
He noted that tensions remain high in the Northeast Asian region due to the latest series of territorial confrontations.
