Korea & U.S. to Hold Nuclear Cooperation Meeting Next Month
Korea and the United States will hold a working-level meeting on nuclear energy cooperation some time next month in Washington.
The meeting is expected to center on revisions of the current nuclear energy pact signed between Korea and the U.S. back in 1974.
Seoul has been seeking its right to enrich uranium and reprocess spent nuclear fuel to solve the problem of storing spent fuel.
Reprocessing fuel and enrichment in Korea currently requires prior U.S. approval.
With the agreement set to expire in 2014, both parties are expected to attempt to reach an agreement before its expiration date.
