Olympic Mobile Searches Set New Records: Google
Not only is London 2012 the first "social media Olympic Games," this year’s events have also seen record numbers of fans searching for Olympic-related news on mobile devices.
According to statistics released by Google Wednesday, Europeans made more mobile searches than any other continent, with most countries having one-third or more of their Olympics-related searches taking place on a tablet or smartphone.
Not surprisingly, Britain had the greatest number of Olympics-related mobile searches in Europe, with 46 percent of related Google queries occurring on mobile devices.
Japan had the most mobile-heavy searches in the world, with 55 percent.
Korea saw 36 percent of its Olympics searches channeled through mobile devices.
