Korea Wins Gold Medals in Men's Team Sabre, Men's Individual Archery
Team Korea grabbed a surprise gold medal against Romania in men's team sabre fencing on Friday.
This is Korea's first gold medal ever in the event.
Gu Bon-gil, Kim Jung-hwan, Won Woo-young and Oh Eun-seok won first place, beating the Romanian team 45 to 26.
Friday's gold medal in fencing was also Korea's 100th gold medal since the country began competing under its own flag, in the 1948 London Games.
Another gold came from Korea's Oh Jin-hyek who won in men's individual archery.
Oh defeated Japan's Furukawa Takaharu in the men's individual event 7 to 1 while China's Dai Xiaoxiang brought home the bronze.
The win gives Korea its first Olympic gold medal in men's individual archery.
And with these medals Korea REMAINS in THIRD in the overall medal standings, with NINE gold medals, TWO silver and FIVE bronze medals, for a total of 16 medals overall.
The U.S. is first in the medal tally, with 21 golds and a total of 43 medals so far.
China is right behind with 20 golds.
And host Great Britain has jumped into the top five with EIGHT gold medals.
