S. Korea & U.S. Devising Joint Missile Defense System: Source
South Korea and the United States are reportedly coming up with a joint missile defense system for the Korean peninsula to counter North Korea's long-range missile threats.
A military source in South Korea said Sunday, that along with negotiating the extension of the range of ballistic missiles the two countries are planning to discuss running a joint system for missile defense.
This comes on the heels of the 2-plus-2 meeting between Defense and Foreign Ministers from Seoul and Washington last week where the leaders discussed a comprehensive system for missile defense.
However, Seoul's Defense Ministry added Sunday that this does not mean the two countries will be operating under one system, but rather seeking greater co-operation with each other.
