KCDF Exhibition on Urban Farming and Urban Gardening
This is the heart of downtown Seoul, and on this rooftop urban farm, flowers and vegetables like lettuce and strawberries have been planted, as part of a special art exhibition.
Inside of the building, the exhibit on urban farming and city gardening is currently underway.
[Interview : Choi Jeong-sim, President
Korea Craft & Design Foundation] "Urban farming can not only help produce safe organic food, but it also provide cultural activities. We have prepared this exhibition to suggest creative and practical ideas about urban farming."
The exhibition aims to promote green cultural activities and environment-friendly city farming.
A variety of traditional handicraft, made of straw,.. are on display, to inspire the joy of farming to city dwellers.
Flower pots created by young designers, and modern farming equipments, are also shown.
[Interview : Kang Hee-jeong, Craft Designer] "Urban households will not use this farming equipment often, so the farming tools could corrode easily. I applied a lacquer of pretty colors to make them beautiful and strong."
Visitors at the exhibition can also watch videos and interviews with city garden artists.
And some hands-on gardening experience events for visitors are also available at herb gardens and the roof top farm.
