The United States has provided North Korea with over 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in assistance, more than HALF of whichhas paid for food aid since 1995.
According to a report by the U.S. Congressional Research Service on Sunday energy assistance made up another 40 percent.
The U.S. however, has provided no food aid to North Korea since early 2009, when North Korea demanded that relief organizations leave the country.
And with Pyeongyang's intended rocket launch later this month, Washington has suspended delivery of 240-thousand metric tons of food aid recently promised to North Korea.
