Seoul City to Spend 4.4 Bil. Won for Inter-Korean Exchange Programs This Year
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Sunday that it plans to spend 4.4 billion won or roughtly 4 million U.S. dollars for six inter-Korean exchange programs set for this year.
The city government said that the money will be injected into projects aimed at sending humanitarian aids to malnourished infants and children in the impoverished North and improving medical facilities there.
The money is set to come out of a city government fund totaling about 16-million dollars set aside for inter-Korean exchange programs.
In December, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon proposed an inter-Korean soccer game as well as a joint orchestra performance to help ease the escalating tension between the two Koreas.
