South Korea's Foreign Ministry has urged Beijing not to repatriate North Korean defectors against their will as to comply with international human rights laws and the U.N. Refugee Convention.
Seoul will also bring up this agenda when Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi visits to Korea next month for diplomatic talks with Korean counterpart Kim Sung-hwan.
Although none of the North Korean defectors detained in China has been repatriated yet defectors are most likely to be prisoned, tortured or executed once they return.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has recently announced to 'wipeout' three generations linked to defectors.
