According a diplomatic source in North Korea of the total of 31 defectors, 9 of them are being trasferred to Yanbian's Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Northeastern China while some 15 of the defectors arrested in the cities of Shenyang and Changchun will be repatriated on Saturday.
The report comes as Korea and China plan to hold talks later this month on the issue of North Korean defectors detained in China.
Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday the leader of the ruling Saenuri Party Park Geun-hye sent a letter to Chinese President Hu Jintao calling on his country to handle the case from a humanitarian standpoint while expressing concern over the consequences the defectors could face after they are sent back to the North.
